Service Areas
Our leadership has 30-plus years of experience in the paving industry. We primarily work with local municipalities that have an annual road program, and we frequently participate in the public bidding process. The company proudly serves Northeast Ohio and municipalities throughout Ohio.
SCI is on the State of Ohio list of 101G and 101L – approved contractors, allowing local governments to secure a contract with us without the need to submit a public bid.
We also subcontract in the commercial, business-to-business, school and fleet rental industries.
Specialized Construction Inc. was established as a family-owned asphalt paving company in 1960 by John Alberty under the name Ajax Bituminous Paving in Cleveland, Ohio.
In 1998, John Alberty retired. His son, John Alberty, and long-time employees John Galik and Bruce Farr decided to buy Ajax and renamed the company Specialized Construction Inc. The company name reflects the use of specialized asphalt processes, some of which are only offered by SCI.
Since its establishment, SCI has grown from 10 to 44 employees while increasing revenue more than six times in part to providing more innovative, cost-effective processes that are public and budget-friendly.
